Corey's Daily Post June 6, 2026

It's Saturday ... and I still woke up at 4:30 this morning.

I'm not upset about it, just woke up and knew I wasn't going back to sleep.

Started a little slow, as expected, but actually had an above-average morning, in terms of productivity.

I got my Scroll of Daily Doing ready over my first cup of coffee.

Then I did 5 minutes of morning mobility, followed by a round of movements.

Today's movement lineup is:

  • Upper Push: Pike Pushups

  • Upper Pull: Pullups

  • Legs: Lunge Variations

  • Core: Dragon Flag

  • Skill of the Day: Elbow Lever

  • and Rope Flow (Freestyle) to Music

As usual, I'll fit in sets whenever I can throughout my day, counting sets on my Scroll of Daily Doing. I don't count reps since I go until form starts to fail during each set. I do vary tempo and pause at the fully extended point where applicable.

You can download the current version of my Scroll of Daily Doing FREE HERE. It's the to-do list that I built to manage my day. I just added a list of movement suggestions to the back to simplify the exercise part.

After a set of each, Bast and I walked to the mailbox. It's just over 3/4 mile roundtrip.

My battle against the downed trees continues. 9 trees in total were either downed by the wind after recent droughts, or taken down by arborists as a preventative measure to protect the house and out-buildings. This morning I ran a pile of pre-trimmed branches through the wood-chipper, adding the mulch to some of our beds and the eroding hillside where the dirt is unprotected.

Over the past few weeks I've been refamiliarizing myself with my chainsaw. A neighbor patiently walked me through the process of sharpening the chainsaw teeth, one by one. It's one of those repetitive, mindless tasks that allow the world to settle into place. Coupled with the destructive therapy of actually using the saw, I've been enjoying cutting my way through the debris of all of these trees.

In the end, the downed pine trees will provide fire wood for at least one winter (I think), wood chip mulch for several beds and several hundred square feet of unprotected hillside, along with the exercise and enjoyment that comes with the process.

Speaking of pine trees ...

Pine Trees

As I mentioned, I currently have an abundance of pine tree parts.

  • Rounds (measuring 10-20" across)

  • Branches (trimmed and measuring 2-6" across)

  • Sticks (trimmed from branches)

Current Use:

  • Rounds are being cut down and processed for firewood, currently unsplit

  • Branches are being gathered and stacked. If unused, they'll go to the county slash pile

  • Sticks are being processed through the wood chipper to return organic material to the soil and add protective mulch

Seeking New Suggestions:

  • What else can I use the Rounds, Branches, and Sticks for? (especially the branches)

If you come up with an idea that I can use ... I'll paint you an 8"x8" painting and mail it to you for free!

Thank you for your suggestions!

New Painting

'Turtal Annihilation'

Yes, I know that's misspelled. I like to name them quickly, and I was thinking "turtle" and "total annihilation," so "Turtal Annihilation".

I painted the background last summer during a spree of experiments with different techniques. The turtle and the mine were added this week.

My Impression on the Day After:

I learned a lot working on the head and shell. The mine was honestly an afterthought, but I like it more with the mine than without.

Not my favorite color palette. I usually only enjoy teal against darker backgrounds, but it forced me off of the black canvas path I've been on for a few weeks.

Overall, considering this has been a blue square in a box for almost a year, I'm happy for the new color. It's up on the wall.
